The School Board is composed of Mr. Ardian Hoxha, the founder and owner of ASK. He is developing the board to be designed as a “Consulting Board”. The leadership team lead by Shannon Bruce Ramaka overseas the creation of all policies and procedures. When any major change is required, she seeks the approval of Mr. Ardian Hoxha.

As we continue to grow and develop internally as well, we have developed an Academic Leadership team which will guide the implementation of continued curriculum alignment and communication with teachers in each division. Please see the brief biographies of these leaders below. In addition, I am excited about the new faculty who will be joining us and the skills and enthusiasm they are bringing. Also, we have been working over the last six months to develop a “Counsel of Advisors” to join the ASK Board to assist with their skills and knowledge. We hope to have the final list of members by mid September.

Shannon Bruce Ramaka has taught all ages of students and subjects; preschool through college within public schools in Oregon, and private International schools abroad (Zambia, Hungary, and Morocco). She has an MS in Curriculum, Instruction and Supervision, and a BS in Business Administration from Southern Oregon University with extensive study in the fine and performing arts. In 1999 she created the Renaissance Charter School in Southern Oregon, in which she founded a school with the focus of integrating the arts and project based learning into the curriculum. From 2005 to 2007 she was the Adjunct Art Education Professor at Southern Oregon University and also the District Coordinator for a homestay program with Showa Mura, Japan. As an educational leader she has served as the Upper School Assistant Principal at GWA in Morocco, The International High School Principal at BLIS in Turkey, and is currently, the Head of School at the American School of Kosova. She is currently working on her Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership with Wilkes University. Her passion is to improve and transform learning communities through authentic leadership, collaboration, creative problem solving and compassionate communication. She has published one book on titled, “Breaking Free in Zambia-Tales of a Western Woman”. Her son Brandon, is a corporate lawyer in San Francisco and her daughter, Emma is teaching at ASK as the Graphic Arts teacher while she completes a second degree through Interactive Design Institute.

Aimée Meditz, Elementary Principal (prek-8)

An educator for thirty-five years, Aimée has enjoyed a variety of teaching and leadership roles. She holds a BA in English, French and Theatre Education and a MA in Linguistics. She is a certified teacher by the state of Illinois, and holds a leadership certificate from the Principals Training Center. Aimée’s studies have perfectly aligned with her passions for language, literacy and learning and have been a strong foundation for her roles as an educator: N-12 Teacher (English as a Second Language, French, English, Journalism, Theatre), Admissions Director, Registrar, Instructional Coach, ELL & Learning Support Department Head, and Middle School Principal. Her professional growth journey has been highly influenced by training and practice in differentiating instruction and assessment, and cognitive coaching. As a keynote speaker and presenter at professional conferences, Aimée’s work has focused on developing collaborative learning groups and a model for student-owned service learning projects. She feels strongly that education is a parent-school partnership, not only assuring academic achievement but also helping children develop a positive sense of self and a valued membership in the learning community and beyond. Demonstrating this, Aimée founded a youth development program (Junior CorpsAfrica) which provides middle school students an opportunity to work with an adult mentor volunteer. The program helps students to build independence through leadership roles, to propose creative solutions in high poverty rural communities and to collaborate with a CorpsAfrica/Maroc adult volunteer. The JCA model is beginning to take root in Senegal and Malawi, in continued partnership with CorpsAfrica.

Aimée’s does her best to celebrate three important things everyday: Heart, Health & Friendship. She enjoys longs walks in the forest, bicycling and cooking. Aimée’s daughter, Maria, is a talented guitarist pursuing her studies in International Relations at the University of Miami in Florida.

Ilirjana Imami Morina has over 20 years of experience in education. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Prishtina and finished her Master’s degree at the University of Prishtina, specializing in teaching and curriculum. She has also participated in different professional development trainings such as the training of the Critical Thinking in Reading and Writing designed and administered by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and also certified from American Corner Prishtina, KEDP Student in the Center and Step by Step teaching model. She has worked at ASK since 2004 where she has been teaching High School Physics and Math. Besides this, she has also been the Head of Math Department for six years now. Prior to working at ASK, Ms. Imami Morina used to teach Physics to primary school age children at “Hasan Prishtina,” to continue with teaching Physics and Astronomy to secondary school age children in Public school of Prishtina” Sami Frasheri” from 1998 throughout 2004, when she join the American School Of Kosova. Starting the new Academic Year 2017/18 Ms. Imami Morina will serve as the Upper School Assistant Principal.

Ilirjana has been married for 17 years and has been blessed with two beautiful daughters Hana and Vesa. On her free time she loves traveling and in cooperating different cultures in her life, reading and spending time with her beloved family.

Merita Ajdini  is the Middle School Math/Science teacher at the  American School of Kosova. She has been an educator for 12 years. She was born, raised, and lived in Kosova until 1999. In 2006 she  moved to the  USA.  Merita holds a BA in Mathematics-Natural Science Section of Chemistry from the University of Prishtina, which is evaluated in United States with United States Standards, and also has a Masters Degree in International Management.

Mrs.Merita, after successful completion of the training Critical Thinking in Reading and Writing, has been appointed a trainer of this program for all pre-university education teachers of Kosova. She is  also certified as a SAT Math instructor from American Advising Center. From Sep. 2017, Mrs. Merita also will be Middle School Curriculum Leader. Her role is to manage the department in a manner that promotes positive relationships between colleges, students, parents and community. She demonstrates a willingness to examine and implement change necessary to produce efficient and effective systems and increase student achievement.


Ujkane Hana Beshiri joined ASK last September as a third grade homeroom teacher, having previously worked as ESL/ASL teacher and a Director of Studies at the New Age School in Kosovo for more than 10 years. At that time, Ujkana conducted professional teacher development trainings and been responsible for organizing, implementing, and supervising curricula and educational programs for the school. It only seems like yesterday that she started working at our school, but her commitment to Lifelong learning, passion in teaching and general dedication to Education has given her a special place in our school. From this year, she will be part of the ASK Academic Leadership Team as the Elementary Division Curriculum Leader, and will continue teaching as a 4th grade homeroom teacher.

Her educational experience and professional development sends her to different parts of the world. So far, she has taken part in many TD trainings / Educational conferences / study&fun school trips in London – UK, Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia, Germany, Turkey, Rome – Italy, Boston – USA. Recently, she is certified by International House Barcelona for the professional development in School Leadership Program, Director of Studies. She is also certified as a TOEFL / SAT instructor from American Advising Center. At the moment, she is doing her Masters degree in Educational Management Administration & Leadership in AAB and Harvard University Online Course  in Introduction to Family Engagement in Education class · Birmingham, United Kingdom.

Her professional aim as a teacher is to be remembered as a kindhearted, committed and knowledgeable teacher.
